Drapers' Maylands - educating by design

My team and I visited the beautiful new buildings of Drapers' Maylands Primary School this morning, and met dedicated and passionate head teacher, Trudie Spillane.

I had arranged to visit Drapers' Maylands as part of my aim to understand the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools, and to offer help in connecting their leadership teams to useful people in Westminster and the constituency. Ms Spillane led every detail of the development of the school buildings to ensure that the school environment was conducive to learning and enriching for students, in what is known as the Reggio Emilia approach. The school opened in 2015 and aims to become a two-form entry primary school to serve the Harold Hill community.
