Julia Lopez, Member of Parliament for Hornchurch & Upminster, has formally submitted a cash access request to Link UK for the establishment of a banking hub in Upminster. This request is the next key step in her ongoing campaign to enhance in-person banking services within the constituency.
The submission incorporates valuable feedback gathered from residents and businesses over recent months. Mrs. Lopez conducted a survey and collected polling data as part of her campaign and has now submitted it to Link UK in support of her request.
Mrs Lopez’s banking hub survey received around 160 responses from businesses and residents indicating support for the campaign. In Mrs Lopez’s online polls over 600 residents indicated they wished to continue using cash, with others adding their own options to the poll which included calls for a banking hub.
Commenting Julia said:
"Thank you to all residents and businesses who took the time to fill in my banking hub survey and participate in the online polls I ran as part of the acceptance of cash enquiry. Residents’ support and insights have been crucial in highlighting the need for better cash access in our area."
"Ensuring that everyone has access to essential banking services is a priority for our community. A banking hub in Upminster will provide much-needed support to our local businesses and residents, especially those who rely on cash transactions."
The proposed banking hub aims to bolster the high street by providing essential in-person banking services from a range of high street banks on rotation.
Mrs. Lopez emphasised the importance of supporting local businesses and ensuring that residents have access to necessary financial services – forming an essential part of her six point plan to make the Hornchurch & Upminster constituency a great place to live, work and raise a family.
