Julia Lopez MP is inviting residents to attend her free Older People’s Fair at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch next Tuesday.
The event will take place from 9.30am to 12.30pm and will bring together a wide range of local organisations, charities, public services and businesses offering advice, support and information for older residents, as well as those caring for an older family member, friend or neighbour.
Attendees will include the Police, Havering MIND, the Department for Work and Pensions, BHRUT’s geriatrics team, BHR Falls Service, Havering Over 50s Forum, Tapestry, Good Companions, Sports for Confidence, Home Instead, May Residential Care Homes, NELFT’s Community Treatment Team, Dementia Music and Social Club, Partially Sighted Society Havering, and financial and legal support providers.
The fair will give residents the chance to speak directly with organisations covering health, wellbeing, safety, social activities, dementia support, falls prevention, banking, care, fitness, benefits and later-life planning.
Mrs Lopez said:
“I am pleased to be hosting my Older People’s Fair at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch next Tuesday, bringing together so many brilliant local organisations under one roof.
“This fair is not just for older residents. It is also for anyone caring for an older family member, friend or neighbour, who may want to find out what support is available locally.
“Whether residents are looking for health advice, support with benefits, information on care, dementia support, fitness opportunities or ways to stay connected in the community, there will be a wide range of organisations there to help.
“The event is completely free to attend, and there is no need to register. Residents are welcome to drop in at any point during the morning.
“I am very grateful to Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and to all the organisations attending for helping make this event possible.”
