Julia Lopez MP has written to both the Post Office and Morrisons following news that the Camborne Avenue Post Office, located within the Morrisons Daily store in Harold Hill, is set to close in early September.
The Post Office has confirmed that the branch will cease operations from 5.30pm on Tuesday 9 September 2025, citing operational reasons. The facility, co-located within the Morrisons Daily store, has served as an important community service point for local residents, especially those with limited mobility or access to transport.
In her letter to the Post Office, Mrs Lopez requested an explanation of the operational factors behind the decision and asked for details on the timescale for considering any future service provision.
Writing separately to Morrisons, Julia asked for the supermarket’s reasons for discontinuing the in-store facility and whether any discussions had taken place with the Post Office to explore alternative arrangements.
The Post Office has said that it is investigating ways to restore services to the community. In the meantime, Mrs Lopez is encouraging residents to share their views as part of this process.
Residents who wish to make their voices heard are encouraged to email [email protected], Constituents can also share their views with Julia directly by emailing [email protected]
Mrs Lopez will continue to press for updates and keep the community informed as further information becomes available.
