Julia Lopez, the Member of Parliament for Hornchurch & Upminster, has slammed the Health Secretary's handling of the NHS. Find out more at the clip above.
Julia commented:
Recently on LBC, Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, said the NHS is at one minute to midnight. Labour's pitch is that their gigantic tax rises, especially the NI rise at last year's Budget (which continues to cripple business) will deliver stronger public services. But that is NOT what is happening on the ground - this is going to be an increasingly difficult story for Labour going forward, from the NHS to policing and schools. On health, a lot of that NHS budget increase has gone into wage deals (which haven't stopped strikes), NI rises and higher medicines costs. Not patient care. Let's take Streeting's own local NHS Trust, BHRUT - it's being asked to make big cuts while the A&E is under huge pressure this year. Jacqui Smith, who was until recently the Chairman of that Trust, knows. You cannot just extract from the economy and think that services will automatically improve. It is not that binary.
