Julia Lopez, the Member of Parliament for Hornchurch & Upminster, has announced she will be hosting her next jobs, skills and apprenticeships fair at Myplace in Harold Hill on Thursday 5 February 9.30am – 12.30pm.
The fair is being delivered in partnership with Romford Jobcentre Plus and will bring together a wide range of employers and training providers. Several organisations have already confirmed their attendance, representing sectors including the Armed Forces, construction, engineering, health and social care, transport, retail, sales and more.
Further employers and training organisations are expected to confirm in the coming days. A final list of attendees will be published on Mrs Lopez’s website closer to the event.
Previous fairs have helped local residents secure job interviews, apprenticeships and places on training schemes, supporting people who are looking to enter work, return to employment or change career direction.
The event will once again be taking place in February, just ahead of National Apprenticeship Week, highlighting the important role which they play in providing practical routes into skilled employment and supporting the local labour market.
Julia Lopez MP said:
“These jobs, skills and apprenticeships fairs are about doing what we can locally to support both residents and employers at a time when businesses and jobs are under real pressure.
“Too many firms are being held back by Government decisions that make it harder to grow, invest and take on staff. That has a direct knock on effect for people who are looking for work or trying to take the next step in their career.
“By bringing employers, training providers and local residents together in one place, we can help businesses find the skills they need and give people a clear route to their next opportunity, whether that is a job, an apprenticeship or a new career path.”
