Transport for London is currently consulting on the proposed Superloop 12 (SL12) route between Gants Hill and Rainham. While this is a welcome step in expanding the Superloop network, from which Havering has been excluded for far too long, the current proposal bypasses the Hornchurch & Upminster constituency entirely.
Julia Lopez MP is joining local community groups, including Healthwatch Havering, urging TfL to adopt a revised route that would take the SL12 through Hornchurch Town Centre and directly past the newly opened St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub on Suttons Lane.
This amended route would:
- Provide direct connections between King George Hospital, Queen’s Hospital, and St George’s Hub
- Serve more residents than the proposed Elm Park route
- Support access to Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre and Hornchurch Country Park
- Avoid congested roads, leading to a more reliable service
The revised route has already gained support from a range of local stakeholders including:
- Healthwatch Havering
- Outer North-East London Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee
- Havering Volunteer Centre
- St. George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub Management Board
- And more!
Now Julia is calling on residents to put their support behind the new proposals.
Residents can submit their response to the SL12 consultation today and call for a route that includes Hornchurch & Upminster.

Mrs Lopez has encouraged residents to let TfL know that Havering deserves better. The consultation closes on 23 May.
