Hornchurch & Upminster MP Julia Lopez announces work experience competition.
Julia Lopez MP is offering a week's work experience for students in the Hornchurch & Upminster constituency, an area which includes Cranham, Harold Hill, Harold Wood and Emerson Park. The MP wants to offer local students an insight into the workings of a parliamentary and constituency office and support career development.
Mrs Lopez is inviting all constituents aged between 16 – 25, as well as Year 11 and Sixth Form students from schools and colleges within the constituency, to participate in a competition to secure the placement.
How to Enter: The competition requires applicants to submit a creative response on the theme "Things that make you proud of the UK." Submissions can be in various formats, including essays and blog posts (up to 1,000 words), videos, or audio reports.
Mrs Lopez said:
"I am excited to be offering this opportunity to our young constituents. It's so important for students themselves to show initiative when it comes to creating chances in life, which is why I want to give the placement to whomever makes the strongest application. My team and I would love to demonstrate how parliament works up close and spark a passion for politics and its ability to change things. The competition is also a great opportunity to showcase an applicant's creativity and pride in our country. We look forward to seeing the entries!"
The work experience placement will take place during the week of Monday, 14 July. Interested students should submit their entries via email by Friday, 23 May. The successful applicant will be notified in early June. Travel costs to Westminster will be covered.
For further information or any questions, students and schools are encouraged to contact Mrs Lopez's office via email.
