This morning the team and I visited Harrison Wipes, a manufacturing business on Harold Hill that has been a family-run operation since 1891 when Saul Harrison founded the company in Great Yarmouth. Now run by his descendant, Stephen Harrison, the business is now one of the oldest and most knowledgeable supplier of wipes in the world.
We discussed the challenges and opportunities of Brexit, and I was able to tour the factory where their products are made and stored. They have a skilled local workforce and are keen to continue growing the business, which already produces the most comprehensive range of wipes in the UK.
I always enjoy meeting small and medium-sized business owners such as Stephen and have great admiration for anyone who takes on the risks, stresses and strains of running a business and providing work to others. I look forward to building a strong business network in the constituency so that Havering firms can be better connected to one another and to things going on in Westminster that might affect them.
