St Joseph's Youth Club come to Parliament

Today I met Rose and James from St Joseph's Youth Club, Upminster, as part of an event to celebrate and highlight the work of the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs.

Lower Thames Crossing consultation now open

This afternoon I met the Lower Thames Crossing team to discuss the ten-week consultation into their latest proposals. I am keen to hear constituents' views on the crossing, specifically what kinds of measures they would like to see to mitigate any negative impact on our constituency.

The future of high-end manufacturing at Ford Dagenham

This afternoon my team and I visited Ford Dagenham to see their plant, meet the people working on the factory floor and discuss diesel, the future of autonomous vehicles, high tech manufacturing and Brexit.

Visit to Hacton Primary

This morning the team and I had the pleasure of visiting Hacton Primary in Hornchurch and talking to some of the pupils there about their work on the First and Second World Wars. The students read remarkable poetry to me and showed me pictures of spitfires they had drawn.

Visit to Campion School

This morning the team and I had the pleasure of visiting Campion School, Wingletye Lane, and talking to head teacher, Mr Williams, and head of governors, Patrick Davis.

Welcoming Harold Wood WI to parliament

Tonight I welcomed the Harold Wood branch of the Women's Institute to parliament as part of their packed social and community calendar. We had the chance first to talk about the WI's work in the community and my role as the branch's local MP, before taking a tour of parliament.

Promise of more local homes as council cap scrapped

More Havering homes of all tenures could be on the way after the Prime Minister announced the scrapping of the cap on local council Housing Revenue Accounts in her speech to Conservative Party Conference.
