Having great transport links are a vital part of making Hornchurch & Upminster a great place to live, work and raise a family - whether you’re heading across Havering to see family on a bus, driving to work through Gallows Corner, or commuting into central London by train.
As one of London’s largest outer boroughs, Havering is one of the capital’s more car reliant areas. Ensuring we have a good road network, as well as great public transport is key for our community.
What I’m campaigning on:
- In May 2024, we were successful in getting £57m worth of funding from the Conservative Government so that TFL can refurbish the Gallows Corner flyover. I’m now pushing the Mayor of London to get this project over the line to keep the flyover open.
- All residents throughout Hornchurch & Upminster deserve to have access to great public transport. That’s why I’m working closely with C2C to make platform 6 at Upminster station fully accessible, ensuring everyone in our community has full use of all platforms.
- As one of London’s outer boroughs, lots of people in Havering regularly use their cars. That’s why I’m campaigning for more investment in fixing our roads here in the Borough.
- Helping to secure the Lower Thames Crossing to stop major roads gumming up when there are problems at Dartford.
What we’ve achieved:
- In May 2024, following years of campaigning, we secured £57m worth of funding for the Department for Transport for a full refurbishment of the Gallows Corner flyover.
- I have been successful so far in my campaign to make platform 6 at Upminster station step free for those with accessibility needs. The station won a share of redirected HS2 money toward getting a lift or ramp installed.
- In 2023, I was successful in lobbying the Government to redirect £10m of HS2 funding for Havering to improve our roads locally.
- I successfully fought Mayor Khan’s proposals to scrap the 347 bus route by writing to residents, asking why the bus was important to them. After extensive campaigning, TFL reversed their decision to scrap the route.
- During the planning and construction of the Lower Thames Crossing, I’ve worked to make sure it has as little negative impact on our area as possible, whilst making sure this vital transport project gets over the line.
- Following my work with the Department for Transport and National Highways, we secured vital improvements to Junction 28 of the M25. These plans will reduce congestion and queues, improve safety and minimise pollution.
