A number of residents have written to me this week to express their alarm at reports of increasing crime and anti-social behaviour perpetrated by people on bikes and mopeds, particularly in Hornchurch.

I was absolutely delighted to hear that Broadford Primary School in Harold Hill has won the Primary School of the Year and Overall School of the Year awards at the annual Times Educational Supplement's (Tes) School Awards contest on Friday night.

The Grenfell Tower fire is one of the most heartbreaking and devastating incidents I think any of us has ever seen in this country, and frankly it is hard to articulate and express the sense of sadness and anger we all feel at what has happened to too many families living there.

Acceptance speech

The General Election count for Hornchurch & Upminster took place at the Hornchurch Sports Centre, alongside that of the neighbouring Romford constituency. At around 3am the result was declared and I was confirmed as the new Member of Parliament.
